February 2015 was the coldest on record in this part of Maine, while this February was the 9th warmest (since records began in Portland in 1940). The first chart compares daily temperatures in Harpswell. Valentine's Day was the only day colder than last year, and in fact it was colder than any day last February, but average temperatures for the month were about 16 degrees warmer this year, and four days were more than 30 degrees warmer. We hit 50 degrees on 10 days this year after never exceeding 41 last February. Temperatures for the Winter season were the warmest relative to normal of any season at my weather station, and it was the 2nd warmest winter recorded in Portland. We did manage almost 3' of snow this winter, but last year we had 8' through February!
